Film Industry

After 20 years of dancing, singing in Broadway musicals, Leon began his filmmaking career with two short films, Dawn (2012) and Talking to My Mother (2015), which examined race and sexual orientation from uniquely Asian viewpoints. They were shown at over 100 film festivals and won accolades such as “Best Short Film” and “Best Director.” Le’s feature film debut, Song Lang (2018), was met with even greater critical acclaim. Critics have described the film as “visually stunning and suitably yearning” (Hollywood Reporter), “a showcase of [a] rising talent” (Film Week, KPCC, NPR Los Angeles), and “simply stunning. A spectacular debut from Le; he’s stamped his claim as a filmmaker to watch” (The Jam Report).

Song Lang has won a total of 54 awards at film festivals around the world. Leon is currently in pre-production for his second feature, Ky Nam Inn.
